Free 5-Day Festival in Central Geneva This August
Geneva, Switzerland – From August 14 to 18, 2024, Geneva’s waterfront and harbour will be buzzing with excitement. A new festival called “Genève Genève” will be held, and the best part is that it is completely free!
What to Expect?
The Genève Genève festival will host 380 artists performing in various venues around the city. This event is set to be a grand celebration with music, lights, and even flamethrower shows.
Main Highlights
- Music and Light Shows: One of the main attractions will be a massive light show called “Elements” on August 16 and 17. It will feature the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, singers, and a special mix of opera and electronic music. The show will have dancing water jets, colorful lights, lasers, video projections, and drones creating beautiful displays in the night sky.
- Fun Activities: There will be five different themed areas. For kids, there will be a mini theme park and hairdresser. For those seeking peace, there will be a meditation area at Pont de la Machine.
- Exciting Events: Like last year’s Feu Ô Lac, you can look forward to paddle parades, roller-skating parties, and soapbox races. These events were very popular and will be back to entertain visitors.
What the Organisers Say?
Aymon Choisy, the coordinator of Fait Genève, told 20 Minuten that Genève Genève is like a “declaration of love” for the city. He said the festival’s name symbolizes a canton (region) that wants to shine. François Moncarey, the artistic director, promised that the festival will end with a spectacular flamethrower concert.
With hundreds of thousands of people expected to attend, Genève Genève is set to be a grand event. The full program will be announced on June 28, so stay tuned for more details. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to enjoy a fantastic festival in Geneva this summer!
