Terrier’s 160-Kilometer Trek Across Switzerland Ends in Heartwarming Reunion with Owner
Throughout our lives, a sense of curiosity and a yearning for adventure often compel us to explore the unknown, whether it’s discovering what lies beyond the horizon or experiencing distant lands. Surprisingly, this innate desire for exploration extends beyond humans, as evidenced by the recent heartwarming tale of a dog reuniting with her human family after embarking on an extraordinary 160-kilometer journey across Switzerland in a single night.
A 14-year-old Border Terrier’s Swiss Odyssey
The local police shared that they encountered the small dog near a gas station on Route de Chancy in Canton Geneva at 9 a.m. on Swiss National Day. A swift scan of the dog’s microchip revealed her identity as Lucky, a 14-year-old Border Terrier. Geneva cantonal police spokesperson Alexandre Brahier explained that a search through the database linked the dog to a family that happened to be on vacation when Lucky went missing. Friends of the family, entrusted with Lucky’s care during their absence, reported her disappearance on July 31.
Canine Expedition across Bern, Fribourg, Vaud, and Geneva
What made Lucky’s adventure even more remarkable was her actual residence in Bern, not Geneva or the Romande region. Consequently, between the evening of July 31 and 9 a.m. on August 1, Lucky traversed an impressive nearly 160-kilometer journey spanning Canton Bern, Fribourg, Vaud, and Geneva, culminating in her discovery.
After her arduous journey, covered with her tiny legs, Lucky appeared a bit disheveled and understandably bewildered as she was gently placed inside a police vehicle. Thankfully, family members promptly arrived to retrieve Lucky and return her to her home in the de facto capital of Switzerland.
